Abilities
niĝak (neeg-ahk "magic")
All Kashshaptu have the potential for various general magic including:
alteration, energy manipulation, dimension manipulation, levitation/flight, binding, conjuration, time manipulation, and sensing magic
While all Kashshaptu are capable of learning/using all forms of magic above, they do not ALL necessarily know all of the forms of magic above, or have mastery of all the magic above. The average Kashshaptu has at least dabbled in nearly the forms above though.
Kashshaptu-nam specialize in magic of order, which includes:
restoration, balance, negation, manipulation of light/energy, enhancement, and protection
Kashshaptu-dih specialize in magic of chaos, which includes:
destruction, manipulation of natural laws/properties (such as physics, size, color etc), and energy manipulation
Depending on the specific Nir that the Kashshaptu is bonded with, they may have a more specific mastery/high aptitude for a certain magic. (will make examples later)

The Nir (neer)
While Kashshaptu are born with magic, it is an unstable magic for most users when using it by themselves. Reliable and less self-harming magic requires the aid of an outside party, specifically entities of order or chaos whose homeland is Arali, or respectably Nam-Nir or Dih-Nir.
The Kashshaptu are compatible with Nir that have similar self interests and ideals and they can form a near permanent mutualistic relationship with each other. The earlier in life a Kashshaptu joins with a Nir, the safer for the Kashshaptu, as prolonged use of their magic without the assistance of a Nir drastically endangers their life.
"Nir" translates roughly into "lord" or "lordly".
The Nir cannot exist outside of the plane of Arali without a pact or a sort of conduit.
The Nir have alignments just as mortals do, each having their own interests and unique nature. Unlike mortals however, their alignment never changes.
Nir are immortal and can only be banished back to Arali. When a Kashshaptu that a Nir made a pact with dies, the Nir is forced back to Arali. They retain the memories of when they were bonded with a Kashshaptu though. It is very common for Nir to make at least hundreds if not thousands of pacts during its existence.
Nam-Nir
Nam-Nir dwell in Nuru and are beings of order.
Their magic primarily consists of restoration, balance, negation, manipulation of light/energy, enhancement, and protection
Dih-Nir
Dih-Nir dwell in Dirga and are beings of chaos.
Their magic primarily consists of destruction, manipulation of natural laws/properties (such as physics, size, color etc), and energy manipulation
Most Nir have a unique form of magic (which they share with a Kashshaptu when bonded) that may not fall into one of their primary magic categories, or might just be a very specific form of a certain form or magic.
The Nam-Nir are not inherently good even though they are beings of order, and the Dih-Nir are not inherently evil even though they are beings of chaos. Both have equal potential for good or evil. The Nam-Nir and the Dih-Nir have a natural tendency to conflict with one another due to their opposite natures.

Origin of the Kashaptu
Before there were ever Kashshaptu, Arali was the home only to the Nir. In the "Copper Age" on Earth some Nir began to visit the humans of Earth, specifically those who experimented with arcane arts, or magic. The Nir learned the first written language of Earth, Sumerian, and tried to communicate with the novice magic users, often in dreams. They were amused by their attempts of "magic". The humans named these magical entities rightfully "Nir", meaning "lord" or "lordly", and began to worship them upon learning their great power. The Nir taught all who followed them what little true magic the humans were capable of learning they could, and taught them Sumerian as well.
The Nir grew to despise their limited existence on Earth (as they could not directly travel the Earth without a host or sort of conduit) and requested that their followers offer some of their own to become a host of a Nir to allow them to release more of their true power and forms. The followers complied and offered some of their own, calling them "Bur" (boo-r), meaning "priest", and also "sacrifice". The Nir took control of the Bur and the people revered them as divine as the Egyptians viewed the pharaohs. The possessed Bur performed great magical feats and were held in the highest esteem. It was not an equal exchange however. The lives of the humans that were offered barely existed once inhabited by the Nir, and the lives of the Bur were greatly shortened to lasting only a few years after being offered to the Nir. The followers of the Nir craved the knowledge and power of the Nir, and the Nir craved a long existence outside of their plane of Arali. Eventually a group of Nir and followers came up with idea to form a pact with one another. It was called "Tab Us Merga", roughly translating to "The first companion accompaniment". With the pact the humans who followed the Nir were granted the privilege of being the first mortals to live on Arali. The Nir gave them the knowledge of true magic, which was only able to be given in Arali, and they became Kashshaptu.
From then on the Kashshaptu could be born with magic, but at a cost if they forsake the Nir who gave such great power to them. The Nam-Nir created the Kashshaptu-nam, giving them magic of order. And the Dih-Nam created the Kashshaptu-dih, giving them magic of chaos.
When the Kashshaptu become of age, typically their early to middle teens, it is traditionally time for them to form a pact with a Nir. With this pact, the Kashshaptu child and Nir share their powers, body, and spirit. They are able to live together and reach their highest magic potential even outside of Arali, and the Nir can satisfy their desire to truly live outside of Arali. It is a very sacred merging of beings, and because it is so intimate, the Nir and Kashshaptu that wish to join must be compatible in spirit. Some Kashshaptu are only compatible with a single Nir, others with hundreds. Only one pact may be formed however, and not all of the choices lead to the same life. Once joined, the Nir and Kashshaptu can only be separated by death. When the mortal Kashshaptu dies, the Nir they made a pact with immediately returns to Arali, for they cannot exist alone outside of their home. Kashshaptu-nam can only form pacts with Nam-Nir and Kashshaptu-dih can only form pacts with Dih-Nir.
